Bondi Innovation Alliance’s Entrepreneur’s Christmas party 2020 was a smashing success. The event on 21st December saw around 40 entrepreneurs descend on Hotel Ravesis to connect, eat, drink and celebrate the end of a crazy year.
Rain and cold couldn’t dampen our spirits with many attendees staying till closing time.
To kick off, three inspiring speakers shared how they had successfully reinvented themselves in 2020, and their advice to attendees on how to continue to reinvent themselves in the coming year.
Remo Giuffré, founder of TEDxSydney, was awaiting the results of a COVID test so appeared by video, sharing the story of how one of the largest TEDx events in the world, with 5,000 attendees the previous year, had successfully transitioned to a bybrid model with three audiences.
Arielle Nakache spoke about her personal journey and how she had overcome challenges to establish and build a series of local comedy nights.
Jeremy Fleming, founder of Stagekings, told his deeply inspiring story of turning around a business based on major events, destroyed by COVID, pivoted towards making standing desks and ending the year with over twice the number of employees as at the beginning of the year
Waverley Mayor Paula Masselos also joined us to share her passion for innovation in Bondi, support for Bondi Innovation Alliance, and the initiatives the council is undertaking to drive innovation.
Through the rest of the evening the group ate, imbibed convivial drinks, gathered on the balcony and shared their lessons learned from 2020 and aspirations for 2021 with their peers.
Many thanks to Hotel Ravesis for hosting us and their delicious food and drinks.
Stay tuned for what will hopefully be permitted to be a far bigger Christmas celebration in 2021, with of course a rich calendar of events through the year. Wishing you all success in 2021!
