Bondi Innovation | Weekly Update

G’day and WELCOME to our many  new members!

We now stand at 84 talented innovators in the community, just over a month from launch. Check out who they are and who would be valuable for you to connect with!

Please keep on inviting those who would add value to and get value from the community – this is for all of us!

In this blog post we will cover:

  • Site issues, usability and community design
  • Group update and meetups
  • Jobs, projects and collaboration opportunities
  • Bondi events calendar

Site issues, usability and community design

It appears that we have had some problems with site registration, including some members reporting incorrect authentication links in their registration emails.

PLEASE let us know if you have had any problems with as much detail as possible so we can fix them! Send a message or DM Ross Dawson.

Our core intention is to be “By the community, for the community”, so we need YOUR input on how to make the community work for you. We will be asking for your input in various ways, but for now if you’d like to contribute please join our How to improve this community group, we’ll have a meetup soon!

And read below on helping us design meetups and events that will be as useful as possible for you.

Groups update and meetups

Last week’s meetup
An excellent meetup on Friday for the Digital Nomads group! Ideas flowed, which will shape the next phase of our meetups…

Next up is….

Social media and growth hacking meetup !!

If social and growth are your thing, come along! We’ll share ideas, expertise, and look for ways to collaborate.

What’s next in our meetups and events!
Bondi is ‘by the community, for the community’, so we need your input to design the meetups that are most valuable to you!

In particular we want to design them to help you learn, grow, connect and collaborate, so it starts by getting the right people there, then having a well-designed event to help achieve that.

What do you want from the meetups?

Charging for meetups
To date we have never charged members for anything, including our big Christmas party! We are now considering charging a nominal fee for meetups and events, perhaps $10 for a basic meetup. At some point we do need to cover our costs as otherwise running this platform will not be sustainable over the long-term. Charging a bit for meetups would be a big help.

Actually another idea is that it’s $20 to attend and $10 goes to the meetup host 🙂

What do you think? Please comment if you think this is a good or bad idea!

Closing forums and creating new groups
Note that we have closed down our ‘forums’ and made them into groups as the distinction between the groups and forums wasn’t clear. So if you’re interested, please join the new groups:

Jobs, projects and collaboration opportunities

There are a few jobs up on our jobs board! We will be posting a job there soon ourselves, so keep a lookout!

The idea is this is not just for employment, but projects or tasks you need help with, and finding collaboration opportunities with local talented people in creative, technology, startup and marketing spaces.

Post your own job and see who you can find to work with!!
